Join me for this guided tour of the Opéra Garnier in Paris built during the Second Empire for Napoleon III, Emperor of France. Discover the work of young architect Charles Garnier who had the difficult task of leading a construction project that took fifteen years to complete before its inauguration in 1873. Learn about 19th century French society and how the architect had to respect proper Rules, Etiquette and Hierarchy of that time. This presentation will provide a detailed portrait of Napoleon III, and a glimpse of Empress Eugénie Montijo who is often compared to Marie-Antoinette.
