Membership & Polices
Cost:
- $99/year single membership
- $125/year family membership (spouse or partner and children)
Membership is not required to enroll. 10% of each membership is donated to local schools or charities. If you'll be taking French all year, joining pays for itself — 10% off 8-week session saves over $250/year.
Benefits:
- 10% off when you sign up for an entire 8-week session
- One-time free repeat of your previous elementary level (levels 1–4 only)
- Free membership to Teacher's Office Hours ($55 value)
- Free correction of a personal letter or short essay (100 words max) every month
- Free monthly Book Club for advanced levels
Books are not included in tuition (prices include tax and shipping):
- French Level 1–5: $39 (or $26 pdf)

Refund and credit policy:
- If The French Class cancels a class, students may transfer or receive a full refund
- No refunds or credits unless notified by phone before 5:00 pm the Thursday before the session begins
- No exceptions — the school is not responsible for changes in a student's schedule or personal circumstances
- No refunds, credits or make-ups for missed workshops and intensive courses
- A $30 processing fee applies to all refunds or credits
- Books and memberships are not refundable
- Credits are non-transferable and cannot apply to private classes, workshops or intensives
- Missed classes cannot be made up in the next 8-week course
Make-up policy:
- Free make-ups in another group class of the same level and topic, encouraged for every missed class
- Available as long as you're enrolled and paid in full for the current session
- Levels 1–5 (not 5+) get two free half-hour private make-ups
- No one-on-one make-ups when repeating an elementary level for $195 — use another group class instead
- Make-ups must be cancelled 24 hours in advance or a $15 charge applies
- Drop-in for one group class without full session enrollment: $30, $50 or $65 depending on class length
- A minimum of 4 students is required to open a scheduled group class
Which level is right for me?
Other than complete beginners, we evaluate all new or returning students to place them correctly. Evaluations are free, brief (5–10 minutes), painless and without obligation. Complete beginners may sign up for Level 1 directly — anyone with prior French should contact us for a free evaluation at (415) 362-3666 or info@frenchclass.com.
